Just like a life jacket gives you the freedom and safety to explore the waters independently, the Life Packets are meant to empower your independent Iñupiaq language study. All you have to do is trace the sentences and, eventually, you will notice the translation patterns and be able to try building your own with words that are not on this list.
 
The Skoden category of Life Packets are focused on what is called an intransitive verb. The sentences are talking about only one subject. For example, if we’re to use the word quviasuk- (to be happy), My Skoden Life Packet will teach you these six sentences: 
Am I happy? I am happy. 
Are we two happy? We two are happy. 
Are we three happy? We three are happy. 
 
The Spring 2026 Skoden Life Packets have 30 root words. To make it easier for practicing, the 30 root words are divided into 6 sets of five words each. 
 
Life Packets  are separated into three different points of view: mine, yours and theirs. They are color coded so that new learners have a visual cue for the translation perspectives. 
Orange is the First Person POV (Me, We 2, We 3)
Green is the Second Person POV (You, You 2, You 3)
Plum is the Third Person POV (They(one), Them 2, Them 3)
 
While learners can use this resource however they want, it is suggested to focus on one set per week. This means you can fill out one sheet per weekday. Then, at the end of the week, you’ll have written 30 new sentences with only 5 root words!

If you purchase ALL three Life Packets (mine/yours/theirs), you will end up learning 18 new sentences for only ONE root word. That would make 90 whole new sentences for one set (one week’s worth of work)!
